I was really looking forward to my first ever @britishkartchampionships race with such a strong grid of the best drivers in the country and it also being by birthday weekend
It was also always going to be an interesting weekend with forecasted weather being torrential and gale force and it certainly didn’t disappoint
Timed qualifying saw us go out on slicks only to have the come down 2 minute in which made driving conditions really tricky but managed to qualify 10th before the heavens opened and the session was cancelled.
Heat 1 I got hit and spun resulting in a drop down penalty and position slide to 17th.
Sunday was never going to be a great day unfortunately as I woke up with a temperature and pretty much deaf in both ears due to an ear infection…
Heat 3 with a few silly mistakes opening myself up I let a train of drivers through and finished it off with a drop down penalty which saw me slide to 23rd
I was hoping to be able to pull in back in the Pre final I got stuck in and certainly looked more racy but just couldn’t pull it together finishing a very disappointing 31st.
Had a sleep between races in the hope that might pep me up for the final and I might wake to find I was feeling better, unfortunately didn’t work
The final was in torrential rain and freezing winds that made the driving conditions really challenging…as soon as I left the pits dad knew we were on the wrong gearing with no straight line speed all I could do was try my hardest to keep up with the pack…finishing a disappointing 31st, straight after our final the whole meet was cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions
I came to learn and gain experience from the fastest drivers in the country, which I did, I had the pace and look forward to getting back to it for round 2 @mansell_raceway
The team @c.h.d.d @schoolofsend_ were awesome as always but it just wasn’t my weekend.
Looking forward to getting my new kart next week and seeing what I can do for my next race once I get my sorted
