One of my favourite tracks although a 5 hour trip from where we live. We had never run in MiniMax at Clay before so it was a learning curve for dad guessing the gearing and tyres and I had never run on Maxims. After the shouting and swearing dad finally got the tyres on the rims and we were ready for practice then onto quali. I was pole for a while before I ran into back markers which put me down to 5th. Heat 1 finished 4th and the Pre final finished 4th again which put me on the wrong side of the grid for the final.
I had a great start in the final made it up to third and could have gone for the lead but was under pressure from the karts behind me. For 18 laps I kept my cool, defended when I had to and made my grandad very happy finishing 3rd.
