Kimbolton

Writer: Harry FriellHarry Friell

Last weekend saw us at Kimbolton for round 8 in Junior Max. With 17kg on lead on my car we were fastest on the Saturday and really confident for a top 5 finish on Sunday. Sunday morning practise followed on from Saturday doing, a 42.26 we were 5 thousand off 1st which gave us confidence.

Heat 1 – started 16, were 24th buy the first corner due to an accident on our side of the track and then drove up to 10th making 14 overtakes.

Heat 2 – started pole! I experienced the anger of older drivers not liking a 12-year-old beating them, some appalling driving being smashed through the cut through penalised me with a one lap penalty which pretty much ended our weekend. Mum went to the stewards but they had not seem anything even through the kart that hit me had no nose cone of Nassau panel left…….”should have gone to spec savers!”

Heat 3 – it rained, started 9th and finished 16th , the kart was horrible and with all the lead I could not turn it in to corners. The final wasn’t much better started 17th and finished 18th. Dad said it is all learning, but I just felt gutted. No sure we are racing next but hopefully it will go better than this weekend. Thanks to @NickJest for the power and my sponsors especially DPS
